Talk by Fumihide Tanaka (Tsukuba U.): Social Robots for Aging Societies

You are cordially invited to attend the talk of Dr Fumihide Tanaka (University of Tsukuba, Japan) on Monday 19 February 2024 at 15:00 in room Alan Turing (1.4), iGent building, Campus Ardoyen. 

Abstract

We are entering the super-aging society with fewer children, so we are developing agent technologies to alleviate human loneliness, anxiety, and pain, which will help our daily life and well-being there.  In this talk, I'll explain our recent work on a wearable soft robot, a variable temperature robot, a variable softness robot, and social mediator robots.

Bio

Fumihide Tanaka is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Information and Systems at the University of Tsukuba. He received his BSc BSc from Waseda University, and MSc and PhD from the Tokyo Institute of Technology. Between 2003 and 2008 he worked at Sony Corporation in their Sony Intelligent Dynamics Laboratories, between 2004 and 2007 he was a postdoctoral research at the University of California, San Diego. Except for a brief stint at the University of Tokyo, he has been affiliated with the University of Tsukuba since 2014.
