The openwifi project (opensource Wi-Fi chip) is helping research on ETSI DECT-2020 New Radio - the only non cellular 5G standard

26-11-2024

Recently a master thesis from Aalto university (Finland) reveals a unique research work for the only non cellular 5G standard: the ETSI DECT-2020 New Radio. The title of the master thesis is "FPGA-based DECT-2020 New Radio Packet Detection". In this work, the openwifi (opensource Wi-Fi chip) Software Defined Radio platform is modified to support the DECT NR packet detection.

openwifi project aims to offer the world an open Wi-Fi chip design with many special capabilities that are not existing in COTS (Commercial Off The Shelf) Wi-Fi chip. Since openwifi was online at the end of 2019, it has been used widely by academia and industry for networking/security/sensing/5G/6G research. Please check our publications page to discover all papers and works based on openwifi.
